The beginning
Way back in the early 1960s someone had a dream of starting
a small business in the form a petrol station on his
plot of land in Gombak. Somehow after discussions with
friends and government officials a concrete business
venture of greater significance materialized.
That dream manifested itself in the form of a public
company, one of the first 100 % Bumiputera public companies
to be established during that period. It was registered
as Sharikat Permodalan Kebangsaan Berhad (SPK) on 1
March 1961 with an authorised capital of RM 2 million
and a paid-up capital of RM 50,970.00.
To begin with, SPK's main business was investment.
Over the years, SPK has began to open more subsidiaries
that ventured into a variety of business activities,
mainly construction and property development.
Our new focus
Today SPK has grown from its humble beginning with
seven shareholders to a multi-million ringgit public
company with approximately 5,500 shareholders and a
paid-up capital of RM 82.77 million and a string of
subsidiary companies.
SPK now focuses on three core businesses which are
managed under the Construction Division, Homes Division
and Technology Division.
